Autumn Olive Removal Party
Autumn Olives are beautiful, fragrant trees with delicious and nutritious berries. They are also a highly invasive species. They spread rapidly and crowd out native plants and make the land unusable for plants, animals and humans. Much of the land we used for Ceremony is now crowded by Autumn Olives!
For those of you interested in joining the Autumn Olive Removal Party on the Michigan Ceremonial Land, we will meet to get a good start on the Fall clean-up. If you are able, join in the defense of our beautiful ceremonial land, native trees and plants on one of those days or all of them.
Things to bring:
Chain Saws
Loppers
Hand Loppers
Work Gloves
Drinking Water
Insect Repellant
Sunscreen
Lunch and healthy snacks
What to wear: I recommend you wear heavy duty long-sleeved shirts and long pants. Autumn Olives have thick sharp thorns that can easily pierce and snag thin clothing.
Potluck: We will finish each day with a community meal. Bring your favorite beverages for self and sharing! Sign up so I’ll know who’s coming and when! Let me know if you have any food allergies or intolerances. You can also email me if you need information or clarification or you're seeking housing for the weekend.
Let your friends know about it too! They might be interested in joining a group of hearty individuals such as us for fun in nature?
I’m looking forward to seeing you there!

Wash Away the Tears
Many of us lost loved ones in 2025 and 2026: spouses, parents, children and dear friends.
The Washing Away the Tears ceremony is done to support individual and community healing, and takes place a year or more after the loss of a loved one.
The first year after we lose someone is an especially tender time, as we meet each new season and event without their presence. The ceremony is intended to help someone who has lived a full year without their loved one “wash away their tears” and return to life. The wider community is present to both witness the completion of a grieving cycle, and welcome the bereaved person back into the tribe.
Everyone is welcome. Contact Debbie if you plan to attend.

James Hillman, the Jungian analyst said, “I don’t think anything changes until ideas change. Hillman also said that to develop Strength of Mind – our receptivity to the knock of spirit and all that it is inviting us to see, to awaken and to know – becomes “the welfare of the soul.’’ Hillman concluded that Knowledge “is the way the soul comes to understand itself.” By this reasoning, Strength of Mind acts as a clarity mirror that allows for thoughtful receptivity, contemplation and discernment in relationship to all new knowledge becoming available to us in our ever-changing life experience. To develop Strength of Mind, which is the open mental capacity to contend with the deeper challenges of life experience effectively, our relationship to Knowledge must become flexible, attuned, receptive, clear. What blocks this? What are the ideas that we harbor or practice repeatedly that block our receptivity to new knowledge and strength of mind? How might we identify these ideas, thoughts, opinions or beliefs that block us from new knowledge and strength of mind? In this purification lodge we will pray to identify and release ourselves from ideas, opinions, thought or beliefs that block us from greater Strength of Mind.
It is important to be on time, especially if you are a newcomer. Know that you will be welcomed into the community and cared for once you arrive.

Benevolent Compassion
The Teachings and practices within the curriculum come from The Sweet Medicine SunDance Path, a shamanic tradition dedicated to Sharing Knowledge that Works - guiding us to Heal, Change and Grow. This path teaches us how to establish a deep and meaningful connection to Nature , revealing how we are interconnected with all of Life.
Looking for spiritual connection and a new life adventure? Shamanism for the Fifth World, through the Sweet Medicine SunDance Path, offers thoughtful moments rooted in graceful intelligence and lived wisdom.

Chores to be completed:
re-tie the Lodge as needed, clean the shed, rake, tidy up and beautify the area, harvest the autumn olives and put them in the fire pit to burn, sweep and clean out the outhouse, clear car paths in, out & around space so cars aren’t scratched, trim low hanging branches. There may be a few more things, but that’s generally the list.
Drummers will be coming and cleaning out the loft space in the barn and will then be joining us on the back 40 to help complete the above tasks.
